Educare Boone County Student and Community Volunteers

Educare often has student volunteers work with our program. They are University of Missouri MU Serves volunteers,

C.A.R.E. students from the City of Columbia, and local public school students. Below you will find pictures of some of

our student volunteers. We also have an on going partnership of several years with the Golden K Kiwanis Club of Columbia.

Educare could not provide services to all the providers and families in Boone County without our volunteers. Thank You.

For several years Educare and The Golden K Kiwanis Club have been partners in a wonderful program. The Kiwanis Club orders books for the Grey Readers to take to early childhood programs in Boone County. In return for providing storage and work space, Educare receives a selection of the books for distribution, Above is the 2009 unloading and work crew.

For several years the MU Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science Graduate Student Organization has donated an afternoon of work to our Educare. In the spring of 2009 they assisted our program by making take home Literacy Packet totes for the families of children in home childcare programs in Boone County.

These are 6th grade students from Mrs. Smith's class at Smithon Middle School in Columbia, MO.Iin 2006 they spent several weeks making domino games for young children. We look forward to many more Smithton students working with Educare.

We also worked with the 120 6th Smithton 6th graders in the fall of 2009 to make Parent Literacy Packet Totes for families of children in home childcare programs in Boone County. They will be checked out on a rotating basis.

Stephany was a C.A.R.E. student worker that spent the summer of 2006 at the Center for Family Policy and Research. She was very instrumental in creating several games and toys for young children.
